THE MORNING AFTER … 9.20.11

Anna Rose and Leo Blais at the Ames Hotel: Digster rookie Sean Flynn was at the Ames last night for the show and had this to say about it: “Anna Rose shook the floor with her blues and black attire stylings. As journalists ducked into the shadows to take note, Anna Rose and her band took a cigarette break. Then she belted out Dolly Parton’s ‘Jolene’ like Jolene stole her man yesterday.”

Cymbals Eat Guitars and Hooray For Earth at the Brighton Music Hall: I think my favorite tweet regarding this show came from @annierock last night: “Hooray for who? I don’t recognize the guys on stage…”  That aside and with a sound glitch or two, apparently both bands killed it and Cymbals Eat Guitars left Boston gushing for more off Lenses Alien, their LP that dropped on August 30th on Barsuk Records.

Peter Hook and the Light at Royale: JOY DIVISIOOOON! That’s what Peter Hook and The Light played last night for giddy concert-goers. Well, they played Closer, specifically. And it was rad. This one goes out to all you Pill fans.
