This matinee showing of Michael Friedman’s emo-historo Wild West rock-musical uses modern embellishments to retell the tale of one of America’s most controversial presidents. Andrew Jackson was, on the one hand, a populist who focused much of his presidency on communicating with the American citizenry. Hooray! On the other hand, he was a genocidal, so-called “American Hitler” who dicked over those other, more native and “totally here first” Americans. Boo hiss! But hey, at least this go-around he’s sportin’ some tight, sexy-ass slacks. Hooray slacks!
