New Edition member and Roxbury native Bobby Brown needs no introduction. But the fact that the 90′s New Jack Swing artist and lover of personal prerogatives is launching a line of barbecue sauces, seasonings and mixes, does. So we asked him some questions about all of the above before coming to town to kick it off. No, we didn’t ask him about the rap from Ghostbusters II. But we should have.
WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO GET INTO THE SAUCE SCENE?
I have always loved cooking and [people] always ask if I could bottle my sauces up. My wife said you have got to let others enjoy your food as much as I do, [so] here I am. I can’t wait for everyone to try it.
WHAT’S THE BEST MEAL YOU’VE EVER HAD IN BOSTON?
My family lobster and clam bake. It has fresh cut potatoes, corn, lobster, clams, crabs, and fresh cut fries on the side.
IS BOSTON THE FIRST CITY YOU’RE LAUNCHING IN?
Boston is my first tasting city. But we are excited to be in my home town and experience friends and fans trying my own flavors first!
WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO DISH TO MAKE AT HOME FOR FRIENDS?
Shrimp a la Bobby.
BEST COCKTAIL TO PAIR WITH YOUR FOOD/SAUCES?
IF YOUR BBQ WAS A WOMAN, WHAT KIND OF WOMAN WOULD SHE BE?
She would be spicy, bold, and sweet.
IF BOSTON WAS A WOMAN, HOW WOULD YOU COURT HER?
EVERY LITTLE STEP
Is my prerogative.
