GETTING GRITTY AT MIDDLESEX LOUNGE MONDAY 4.2.12
What are you doing at CVLT’s one-year anniversary?
I’m celebrating. It’s a good weekly party they got going on. I really appreciate the artists that come out. It’s just a really fun, unique Boston experience. Really different from what’s going on at the other parties.
What are the other parties?
Throwed, Rise, those kind of bullshit electro parties that are just trying to get 18+ attendance. This is more industrial, gritty and down to the roots.
I mean, this is a gritty ass party.
Have you seen the visuals? It’s gritty like southern grits.
How do they party in the south and how is it different from here?
In the south, they party really hard because they don’t give a fuck. In the south, it’s just a way of life. It’s a party, like Biggie Smalls’ “Party and Bullshit.”
What do you do during the day?
I’m a student at Boston University and I work in retail. At heart, I’m a DJ and producer, so I really appreciate this kind of scene.
To hear people do it well at a party that’s accepting of this genre is really refreshing.
Describe your own DJ set in three words.
Ghetto. Booty. Bass.
