Nature documentaries, meet me at Camera 3. You can’t top the BBC and their flawless run of miniseries over the last couple of years. Planet Earth, Blue Planet, Life? We’re done! I understand so much about nature thanks to our British counterparts that I can’t help but think that Born To Be Wild (presented in a needless 3D to boot) will always be living in another documentary’s shadow.
But hey, maybe I’m being a little harsh.
This is a 40-minute IMAX feature, probably pandering to the younger audiences, after all. And Morgan Freeman doing the voiceover? Molto bene. However, a film dealing with orphaned elephants and orangutans is surprisingly heavy for the kids. So is it even worth watching at that point? I submit no, especially considering the plethora of other stuff out there.
So hey Wild, thanks for coming out, but I think I’m gonna stick with our friends from across the pond. Did you see that episode with the elephant and—oh, sorry.
