Last week we published a eulogy for the film community’s loss of the brick and mortar video store, sparked by the announcement that Jamaica Plain’s Video Underground would be closing it’s doors at the end of March. Since then, Video Underground has found new ownership, and what appeared to be inevitable death has become a near-death experience. But there is still a lot of truth in staff writer Sean Maloney’s somber statement. Video may have killed the radio star, but the interwebs decimated the video store. At this point, we’re just glad it hasn’t been exterminated. Welcome back from the near dead, Video Underground. You’ll be seeing us soon!
