Mix Goths and Thai food with Swedish synth rockers and you get, well, a not unusual night in the Witch city!
I headed up there last Saturday night to catch Swedish synth rock outfit Lowe perform on their only nearby stop on their brief North American tour. The goth club night hosting the band is called DARQ and it’s held on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays each month in the Bangkok Paradise Thai restaurant!
Sushi and goth nights who knew that combination might work. But it does!
Lowe have a poppy Romantic Goth sound that’s very pleasing to the ear and is highly danceable judging by the crowded floor during their set. They played about an hour’s worth of their back catalog and tried out (quite successfully) a new song on the adoring crowd and were even brought back for an encore.
Local outfit Ground to Dust ably played support and guest DJ Anomaly and resident DJ VUDU spun between live sets. Check out the gallery for live show and candid pics.
