A few years ago I asked my brother to make me some collage art for my bedroom. What he came up with was a white skeleton on a black background, gesturing operatically to a sky filled with multi-colored neon precipitation the size of his head, swirling around him and gradually engulfing him in its psychedelic madness.
That’s what I think of sometimes when I listen to DJ Dark and Stormy–it’s like standing in a void that’s being gradually filled with clumps of bright colors. Oh, and I’m usually dancing, but that’s what’s actually happening–not just part of the fantasy.
Still, skeletons, darkness, swirling colors … It’s always nice when DJs come up with the perfect name for themselves.
On the other hand, DJ Dark and Stormy is nothing if not a tinkerer, pulling in elements from all over the place and throwing them in the mix. Here’s his latest track, a congoey piece of tech house with a silky-smooth, pumping bassline:
The other thing about DJ Dark and Stormy (as I hinted above) is the dancing. He’s pretty determined to get you moving, and he’s damn good at it. Have a listen to his “DeathDisco Mix” and you’ll see what I mean. Dark, stormy, and gradually filled with swirling colors, dancing skeletons, and dancing you.
He’s got two parties lined up right now – info on them and the tracklist below.
