Beatboxing has the unfortunate distinction of being both an egalitarian “people’s music”—where expensive drum machines are replaced with the instrument of the body, dude—and being seemingly easy-to-do. Fact: it’s not. Proof: every “Lame Larry” asshole anyone has known, ever. Luckily, Balkan Beat Box won’t be giving Paradise Rock Club patrons a fistful of spit tonight. ‘Cause that’d be gross. And logistically unsound. And because the group is more a fusion of Mediterranean and hip-hop sounds than a—shit, Larry’s doing it again! Dude had better get some hand sanitizer if he wants to keep this up.
