Adults need more field days, especially when it involves hip-hop and charity. Saturday afternoon is a chance to fuse beats with recess, all for a good cause.
Imagine a hip-hop version of recess. A place where DJs spin the soundtrack to a game of capture the flag. A field day for grown-ups.
That shit is going down this Saturday at DCR North Point Park in Cambridge, right near the Science Park stop on the Green line.
Schoolyard staples were always ill, but with the addition of music, they’re bound to elevate to the next level of ill-ness.
Add in a charitable cause and you have yourself a nice little Saturday afternoon. The event—a partnership between streetwear label vitaminTHICK and nonprofit The Wildflower Camp Foundation—helps raise money to provide summer camp scholarships to children who have lost a parent.
Several DJs will be on hand, offering a smattering of beat selections, including DJ Goulet (hip-hop/soul/eclectic), Thaddeus Jeffries (hip hop/funk/house), and Area 6 (electronic/house).
The latter half of the event will feature live hip-hop and soul.
