After last year saw the launch of Boston Calling, the city’s first full scale music festival which immediately earned praise nationwide, its success has lead to it’s newest installment hitting City Hall Plaza this May. Early bird tickets for this year’s festival went on-sale less than an week after the dust gloriously settled on last September’s outing. And back in December the organizers announced an expansion that will see the fest grow to three full days and once again take up residence on the brick playground starting Friday, May 23rd in addition to the now traditional Saturday and Sunday dates.
Now, we’re happy to announce the bands who will call Government Center home over Memorial Day weekend. Receiving top billing is surf-pop god Jack Johnson, alterna-emo outfit Death Cab For Cutie, and Modest Mouse, a band so badass they don’t really require an introduction. And lest that ain’t enough, promoters are also promising an “additional superstar who will be announced in the coming weeks.”
Other names rounding out the rather stacked billing are Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Brand New, Built To Spill, Warpaint, and many, many more. The now-standard local opening slots have been gifted to folk-bears tigermanWOAH! and precious synth-maestros Magic Man. The entire thing is listed below.
Prsale for three day general admission and VIP tickets opens Wednesday at 10 AM. Friday-only regular admission and VIP tickets, as well as two-day and three-day general admission tickets, are on-sale Friday at 10 AM. Visit bostoncalling.com for full details on cost and how to purchase.
