Growing up the daughter of the founders of the Sound Museum, the lauded band rehearsal complex in Boston, Together Boston musician and Dark Phoenix-haired Casey Desmond was constantly surrounded by the creative styles of those in her orbit. And being immersed in the music industry has had a profound influence on her, as evidenced in her own fashion line ABNDN, launching this Sunday with a party at TT the Bears with what she calls “eco-conscious designs.”

“We use either dead stock, recycled, or up-cycled material. Nothing manufactured or purchased from a Micheal’s or anything,” Desmond jokes. “Everything has had a purpose before, and was left behind. The reason why we named our selves ‘abandoned’, as our excursions kind of led to what we’re doing.”

Call it urban exploring: Desmond and partner Jessie Ammons-Carswell break into abandoned asylums and museums four or five hours away from Boston, and embark on guerrilla camping excursions resulting in the asylum room keys, crystals, one-of-a-kind antique chains, and re-purposed trinkets. “There’s a big enough landfill on the face of the planet,” she says, “so we’re doing our part to enjoy style and dressing up, without making the planet sicker than it already is.”

And while they use designer fabrics when assembling the different pieces, it tends to be the stuff at the end of the roll. So in the end, “every piece is a one of a kind, but we can still reproduce most of the clothing depending on what we’re using.”
