English playwright Alan Ayckbourn wrote Time of My Life as a confession of sorts to being a “terrible eavesdropper.” Tonight’s staging of the play by Zeigeist Stage at the BCA Black Box Theatre places the audience in the role of Sir Ayckbourn (no joke, he’s actually a knight), peeping at a tense dinner hosted by a successful patriarch and his family.
A dinner which then fragments into three separate stories, which head both back-ways and forth-ways (and present-ways) through the time-stream.
Ever been to South Street Diner late on a Saturday? Pretty much the same deal.
