Of course, all of the bands I wanted to see last night had set times at three different venues at exactly the same time. Of course. All in all, not terrible for a Monday!
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah at the Paradise: So, the guys of CYHSY were hitting the stage at the exact same time as Static of the Gods and there was no way in hell I could be in Cambridge and Allston at the same time. None. I’m pleased to report that their set last night was fantastic according to a few friends were there, and that the numbers off of Hysterical live up to the hype of that song that made ‘em a buzz band in the first place, “The Skin Of My Yellow Country Teeth.”
Static of the Gods and AM & Shawn Lee at the Middle East: Static of the Gods are hitting the road with AM & Shawn Lee for a week or so and kicked it off with a hometown show last night, in which Ben Voskeritchian sadly retold a story of getting a bike ticket for running a red light (those ACTUALLY EXIST) just before showtime and a sizeable amount of people fell in love with AM’s pretty, pretty facial hair. Also, I’m obsessed with their rhythm section. Anyways, Ben snapped the above photo and I liked it, so I posted it.
Vivian Girls, Widowspeak and Girlfriends at Great Scott: Again: I am but one woman without a car nor a bike at the moment and mobility was an issue when it came to show-hopping. ‘Tis a shamed too because Great Scott hosted an incredible line up that I wish I could’ve seen, as I’ve never seen Vivian Girls and have wanted to for some time now, mostly because I think they’d be the perfect backdrop for a good shindig. That, and I always love me some Girlfriends, but you know.
