An eviction notice from the BPD led thousands of people down to Dewey Square last night, preparing for a raid of Occupy Boston by the BPD at midnight. After a day full of clearing out the encampment, calls for #dance parties, civil disobedience training, and planning for mass arrests, around 1 a.m. the scene at Occupy seemed the exact opposite of disheartened or less passionate for their cause. In fact, at approx. 1:45 am on Boston’s wintriest night to date, Atlantic Avenue was flooded with a sea of Occupiers, bands, calls of “You can’t evict an idea,” and “This is what democracy looks like …” and eventually a dance party in the street.
Which led to Police Superintendent Evans’ statement, on record, that the BPD will not be clearing the Occupy Boston encampment that night.
