Tonight, Raucous Bacchus Productions present Pulitzer-Prize winner John Patrick’s The Big Funk at Davis Square Theatre. In it, a quartet of situationally comedic pals play rhetorical handball up against the fourth wall with their debate over who the hero of the tale is. Now, you could call the whole “meta-reference” thing a gimmick. Ditto for the rotating stable of musicians playing live music. (Double-ditto on the brief nudity.) But that’s only true if you confuse both “gimmicks” with “awesometude,” and hate awesometude. In which case … you are the hero. The hero of the shittiest tragedy ever.
