LOCAL OR DIE. BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAA
When Halloween is creeping up and all you can think about eating is bite-sized Kit Kats and the like, it can be difficult to remember the authenticity and deliciousness of homegrown cuisine. Somerville Local First is reminding you to put away the Junior Mints if only for a moment and come out to celebrate the best the city has to offer with Harvest Fest 2012. The jam-packed autumn-centric fundraiser is happening this Saturday, October 27, at Somerville’s Arts at the Armory.
What can you expect of the annual Harvest Fest, you ask? The ticket includes UNLIMITED 2 oz. tastings from eight local breweries, a meal from any one of Somerville’s most glorious dining establishments, live music, a FREE photo booth, killer raffles, and a goddamn costume contest. FYI: best contest prize=gift certificate to Redbones BBQ, mmmmmm. Experience the beer/food/fun and get a chance to meet the people who are responsible for creating community through their menus. Above all else, attending means supporting Somerville Local First, an organization that strives to promote not only locally owned and independent businesses but economic sustainability.
Because no horror film could be scarier than an underdeveloped local economy.
