The powers-that-be behind shows like E3 and CES like to make sure that you, the consumer, won’t get to actually handle a product until it reaches shelves. Gadget geeks can only look on from afar, and live vicariously through tech journalists.
So what will happen when gdgt live comes to Boston as the next stop on its 2012 tour? Anarchy? Chaos in the streets?
Okay, it might just be a night of consumerist, informational fun with some of the industry’s top brands and new technologies. Nothing wrong with that I suppose.
For a few hours Wednesday night, gadget fans of all ages can visit the Bijou Nightclub to check out the latest from big-name brands such as the local iRobot, and many others like Nokia, Motorola, and TiVo. If you’ve been following the standouts in the startup world, you could also check out Backupify, which won gdgt’s startup contest.
Gdgt, a website that recommends the greatest in all areas of the industry, promises a ton of gadgets to play with, along with prizes, and other special events like the eBay Electronics Lounge, a VIP area that requires an old electronic for entry. One lucky winner will win a $500 eBay Electronics gift card which might afford you an iPhone, or maybe half a TV. Even if you don’t have an old device, you can still get tons of other free swag from demonstrators.
In the words of gdgt themselves, “how can you say no to a roomful of hot gadgets and free drinks?” I mean, they have a point there.
