“Googled ‘techno’ or ‘DJ classes’ and came across it.”
So do you have any background with DJing?
I made some great road trip mix-tapes but otherwise, I was once an MC!
Oh right on. What’d you do with that?
Indian events! The bhangra is not an easy dance!
Did you learn anything interesting while you were in there?
Definitely. I spoke with Erik (aka Baltimoroder -- who recently opened for DeadMau5) for about an hour about the psychology of DJing, its history and how it grew across Europe and the world, and of course, a quick overview of mixing, beat matching, and more.
Were you surprised when you walked into the room? Not really your average classroom?
I guess I didn’t know what to expect. But the music hit me.
How did you find out about The Mmmmaven Project?
Googling it. Googled “techno” or “DJ classes” and came across it.
What prompted your desire to learn how to DJ?
I’ve always been interested in it, and I guess now I have the time and can afford to do it. And now it’s available in Boston.
After you complete the course what do you plan on doing with the skills?
It would be fun to DJ out places.
What’s your DJ name gong to be?
Erik and I were talking about it and we thought of Armand van Hershowitz, just cause it’s kind of similar to Armand van Helden.
Do you wanna add anything?
Looking forward to the class. Got my sticker.
Yeah get some chocolate, too!
