A totally unbiased dude once said: “Women just aren’t funny.” Laugh-riot that I am, I want to disagree with him. But after witnessing Whitney, that asshole might’ve been onto something.
Okay, the problem with Whitney isn’t that it’s a woman’s brainchild: it’s that it has no brains. Stale jokes (“Ladies love letting themselves go after marriage!”) and painfully vanilla “shock value” drop-ins (“Whoa, one night stands!”), from a show with nothing remotely inventive to offer.
These jokes were overcooked when Friends did them in ’95.
