You know that band you always listen to when you’re down in the dumps and feel like singing along to a whole album to subdue the somberness? Prepare to switch that band to McAlister Drive after listening to Missing Figures.
Frontman Christoph Krey leads with his catchy piano and guitar work along with a crisp voice, giving off a Chris Martin of Coldplay vibe at times. Missing Figures provides a glimpse into the multi-genre mindset that makes McAlister Drive stand out from the pack.
The first track, “Best Dressed,” sounds like it could have come from the rock and rollers in Jet if they had taken on some poppier influences. The next track, “Hands In Your Pockets,” hooks the listener before belting into one banger of a pop song with a chorus sure to be stuck in your head for the rest of the week. Do yourself a favor and pick up this album if you’d like to give your vocal chords a workout.
