GENRE | STRICTLY HOUSE
VERDICT | STRICTLY BUMPIN’
LABEL | STRICTLY RHYTHM
RELEASE | 6.21.11
There’s something very appropriate about Dirty South releasing a house compilation album, but even more so because he’s doing it on Strictly Rhythm. Marrying a guy who’s known for immacu-late remixes of everything from David Guetta to Snoop with a label whose name is practically syn-onymous with house music just makes a certain amount of sense. And as you might expect, what you get is 100 percent dance land. On disc one, Dirty South shows off his favorite tracks from the “old school,” while disc two is all up-to-the-minute.
In the end, the whole thing is remarkably unified. Dirty South is an awesome producer with great taste and he knows how to make mixes, but also maybe because, as he says, “it’s all house mu-sic at the end of the day.” [BEN GRAY]
