I wander the streets of Allston with a crew who pride themselves on their finely tuned robot ears. About a year and half back, their microchips led us to Wonderbar on a Tuesday night for a weekly called Music Ecology. It’s five dollars no matter what, full bar and there’s always impeccably chosen electronic music artists.
“Who on earth is finding and booking these cats?”
Meet the family: Polina Volchek, Alex Russo (Resident DJ Whatever, Blue Boy Productions), Shawn Conte (Resident DJ Furious Styles, The Statesmen), Chris Narainen (Blue Boy Productions) and Jeremy Smith (Resident DJ Professor Pious). This bunch is responsible for putting on the weekly EDM night right in the heart of Allston.
”The focus of the night has always been, and I hope will remain, to expose local producers. Our hope is to build a community so that people will come out for the night regardless of whether or not they know who is playing.”- Polina Volchek
Aside from local artists, they have also been responsible for exposing sounds from all over the country, creating the opportunity to constantly hear new music.
Their passion for quality music is palpable and there is no denying the feeling of community they have cultivated.
Come join the two year anniversary celebration Tuesday July 26th at Wonderbar. There to commemorate this evening will be Philadelphia based electronic trio, Sonic Spank, as well as the residents. Whether this is your first visit to Music Ecology, or you’re second anniversary with them, be prepared to be refreshed and inspired by the level of artistry and respect. This night is about the music and the people; it is a rare diamond in the rough. Here’s to many more years of Music Ecology.
