THE MORNING AFTER, WEEKEND HANGOVER EDITION: 3.16.12 – 3.18.12

Is that green vomit yours or mine? I--…I just don’t want to get up today. Or tomorrow. And I…oh god…HYHYRRRURGUHGUHRGHURR (Warning: Vomit.)

Congratulations, TMA Reader! You’ve reached the holy grail of Morning Afters! St. Patrick’s Day Weekend in Boston; there is no greater honor.

Granted you can still read/maintain cardiovascular activity, here’s a slew of shows that graced our emerald city this weekend.

The following artists are never mixing Guinness and Taco Bell ever again. EVER. AGAIN.

Dropkick Murphy’s (@dropkickmurphys), The Ramshackle Army (@ramshacklearmy), Frank Turner (@fthc) @ Tsongas Center, 2.17.12: A double-header show is a mammoth achievement for a band, and Murphy’s rightfully played to the masses Saturday day and night in the heart of Lowell. But perhaps what’s even more important is a band being able to seamlessly play and belong to a certain time and place, and Dropkick Murphy’s on St. Patty’s Day in Massachusetts can hardly be beaten in that category. Where were you?

Immortal Technique (@immortaltechnique), DJ G.I. Joe (@DJGIJOE) @ Paradise, 3.17.12: Harlem’s own Immortal Technique was on hand at the ‘Dise Saturday night for his unique rap production and grounded lyricism. Call it an Alternative St. Pat’s, if you will; whereas many a-people were out with the primary goal of getting blitzed, Technique’s show was a bit more humble and wiser entity.

Donovan Frankenreiter (@dfrankenreiter) @ Paradise, 2.18.12: A soft rocker who also doubles as a surfer practically has their PhD in Chill, so we can all trust in Mr. Frankenreiter’s beach-side vibes because he’s got the surf hair to prove it. As long as there’s water to surf, Beach Rock will never go out of style, taking you to that faraway place whether you be in Waikiki or Wisconsin (Note: Wearing a Hawaiian shirt in Wisconsin makes you look like a jerk and/or a Big Fat Party Animal.)

SUPER WEEKEND HANGOVER BONUS

Since this weekend was no doubt fertile ground for picture-taking, our friend Mick Murray was on hand to snap some debauchery.

Here’s the CULT set at Machine Nightclub on St. Pat’s!

…And here’s Allston’s favorite pig, Oliver, at the first Great Scott bbq of the season on Sunday. D’awwwww, don’t you feel bad for eating bacon now?
