C.Z., LIL TEXAS, REWROTE, TRAP ARNOLD, YUNG SATAN: M|O|D III

M|O|D III

GENRE | THAT REAL TRAP SHIT
VERDICT | YES, PLEASE DROP THAT BITCH
LABEL | M|O|D
RELEASE | 6.5.12

Coincidence that Trap rhymes with brrrrrrrrap … brap brap? I think not.

We’re not dealing with amateurs here, friends. The M|O|D gang always brings those properr beats, and their third mix is no exception.

When they drop it, you’ll know: it’s time to get dirty and get down low.

While I returned to Lil TExAS’s “Burn ‘Em,” Rewrote’s “Stammer,” Trap Arnold’s “Some Rumor” and “Jack Gouda” the most, it’s very difficult to pick favorites when the 15 tracks together make you lean back and get sucked into its (I’m being technical here) DOPE flow. Not since Modeselektor have producers made me laugh this much. Between all the Southern-gangsta-rap-style tracks of hip-hop and hi-hats, the “Dad Interlude” made me spit up laughing. There are so many pockets of personality that it’s the antithesis of “EDM lacks human-ness” (or whatever the argument is). See “Lil Sexist” to get the idea.

Yes, Admiral Ackbar, I concur. “IT’S DAT TRAP SHIT!”
