Listening to Brazilian singer-songwriter Céu, we can’t help but imagine we’re in a ’60s-inspired, post-’Aughts throwback cocktail bar, sipping an Old Fashioned while Ms. Whitaker Poças et al rock the mic, “Girl From Ipanema”-style.
This is due in part to the way Céu effortlessly blends traditional Brazilian music with jazz and reggae beats for a sonic mixer all her own, and in part to how costly this new post-’Aughts cocktail bar throwback at DigHQ was. Yeah, you could see her live at Brighton Music Hall tonight, but do they have an unnecessary amount of jiggers? Come on! Look at all these jiggers!
