It’s always a plus when we get to write about a big, national act with a new record, playing a Boston venue that often caters to big, national acts with new records, only to find that aforementioned act with the fresh tunes is, actually, Boston-based, like this roots-rockin’ local and his Rivals. It’s an even bigger plus when we find that new album is recorded locally (specifically, in Somerville). And it’s an even biggerer plus when somebody in the office leaves a perfectly good slice of pepperoni on top of the garbage! Wins all around!
