Now, we would never say that all folksy, Americana-style musicians need to rock the brown-toned, rustic aesthetic often associated with singer-songwriters. But, if we were to make such a reasonable, actually-quite-compelling argument, we might mention Joe Purdy and his show tonight at the Middle East Downstairs. Let’s see … a full-on freedom lovin’ sonic pedigree … a Gordian knot of a beard and—hey! A last name that’s also a colloquial way to say “pretty.” Have to be honest here, All Other Singer-Songwriters, if we were to put that last one in writing you’d be fully screwed by now.
