Pop culture has trained us to associate the soul and funk of the ’60s and ’70s with the fist-raisin’ and the The Man-fightin’ which defined those times. Toss some wah-wah on a guitar and we’ll be crumbling traditionalist institutions like Pavlov’s armed propagan-dog. We say this only as fair warning to the Brighton Music Hall folks. ‘Cause when King Khan and The Shrines bring their psychedelic rhythm ‘n soul Allston-side it’s going to be That One ’60s Movie Montage all over again. Yeah, “psychedelic rhythm ‘n soul.” Just…grab a sign and start yelling. There’s a good anarchist revolutionary.
