IN THE TUBES: ROUGH, RUGGED, RHYMES GALORE

evitan

Hip Hop veterans and pioneers of The Native Tongue movement, Dres (Black Sheep) and Jarobi (A Tribe Called Quest) have joined forces with their project, Evitan; an outfit which features a first-time solo effort from Tribe’s Jarobi, supported by the lyrical finesse of Dres in an age where Hip Hop music is under construction.

Although, not entirely experimental by today’s standards, their sound and influence has been an integral part of socially conscious lyricism and well-crafted beats grounded by Afrocentric roots which delve into music and sensibilities of urban culture.

Evitan is a reiteration of what defines authentic Hip Hop music, once again demonstrating dynamics such as lyricism, turntablism, production, and restraint.

The single from this album, 3 KINGS, featuring Brand Nubian, Sadat X, comes heavy with all the raw energy and vitality of beats and rhymes that were once presented in an era of Hip Hop that sustained itself amidst a toxic backdrop of militancy and gangsta fashion; the ’90s.

You may have an affinity for club-fueled, booty-licious hip hop these days. However, the real Hip Hop is over here; lurking for certainty and authentic appreciation.

The new album, Evitan: Speed of Life, gets dropped Friday, September 21st.
