If someone had to explain the difference between grunge pop and punk, we imagine they’d start with Allston’s Sneeze. They’d mention fuzz distortion, lo-fi recording techniques, and the I-V-vi-IV chord progression before losing their point somewhere around tone dissonance and forcing us to punch ‘em in the knee and go to O’Brien’s. Man, that hypothetical jerk was a jerk.
