That “art” you bought at Urban Outfitters is lame. Thankfully, Lincoln Arts Project, the year-old brainchild of Pat Falco and Elliott Anderson, is opening The Hundreds Show tonight, selling works from 40 local artists at affordable $100, $200, and $300 price points. A few guys to keep your eye on are Caleb Neelon, Raul Gonzalez, Kenji Nakayama and Josh Luke.
“There aren’t many galleries that focus on selling Boston artists to people that live in Boston,” Falco says. “It’s good for the artists and it’s good for the community. You get not normal art buyers coming in and getting exposed to what’s happening in their area.”
Sure, the numbers might not feel exactly “cheap,” but think of all those Andrew Jackson’s you’ve casually handed over for a mass-produced, owl-bearing, final sale canvas. And this piece won’t be “out” next season when guinea fowl are the new “it bird.” Think about it.
[THE HUNDREDS SHOW. Lincoln Arts Project. Opening reception tonight, 7-10 p.m. Runs through 1.14. 289 Moody Street, Waltham. lincolnartsproject.com]
