Jenny Owen Youngs! We love you! We really do. This is coming from the heart. We love that you covered Mark Kozelek for a charity CD. We love Weeds and we love that your song was on that show. We cannot believe that you toured with the songwriter of Toad the Wet Sproket, that is awesome. What we really love is that you’re making a special appearance at Women Rock! at the Boston University Women’s Resource Center. In addition to supporting Concerned Worldwide and helping to rebuild schools for girls in Haiti, you’re letting performers Steph Barrak, Molly Allis and Allison Francis cling to your fancy, embroidered coattails. We love you!

Nice try, Jenny Owens Young, but we’re gonna have to call shenanigans. The effortless Moleskine-chic, the adorable penchant for profanity, the horn-rimmed, tall-socked, gettin’-in-fights-with-boys-by-the-sandlot appeal of your lo-fi musings … we’re not falling for it. You may have fooled everybody else into thinking that there’s a deep-souled Jersey girl with hollow-body onstage at the Middle East Upstairs, but we know who you really are. Isn’t that right … Tumblr. Didn’t think we’d recognize you in human form, huh? The bio was a dead giveaway. You went to Space Camp and studied Marine Biology? Nobody’s that awesome.
