Painter Nicholas Burgess is Jim Jones. Sometimes. Other times he’s a subservient member of the People’s Temple.

For Burgess, 21, painting is about full immersion–-about getting into people’s heads, assuming their mentality and telling a story as he feels it. His latest obsession: Jonestown, the socialist Christian cult creation of Jim Jones, infamous committers of mass suicide in 1978.
