MOVERS AND SHAKERS

LU_MoversShackers

A perfectly constructed, delightfully balanced cocktail is nothing short of a work of art, wouldn’t you agree? LUPEC loves to support local arts organizations, and chief among these is the South End-based Boston Center for the Arts.

Since the late 60’s, the BCA has provided Boston a creative home for artists, a welcoming arts destination for audiences and an art connection for city youth and communities. And now they are in need of a signature cocktail. Wednesday, March 2, the BCA will invite bartenders from all over Boston and Cambridge to throw a hat in the ring and develop such a drink at Movers & Shakers.

Bartenders from Aquitaine, The BeehiveBella Luna Restaurant, Eastern Standard, Geoffrey’s Café, Hamersley’s Bistro, Mantra Restaurant and Upstairs on the Square will go head to head to see who can craft a cocktail worthy of being called a work of art. An expert panel of judges will have the final say, but guests will be invited to mix and mingle, sample food from participating restaurants and vote on a crowd favorite.

The winning cocktail will be the featured drink at the BCA’s June extravaganza, which features the world premiere of Suspended Cirque’s “UnTamed: The Wild Underground.” (That’s an aerial circus theatre troupe, in case it isn’t obvious.)

Look at you, getting all cultured. Mix up one of these as you contemplate the art of the cocktail.
