3.5 cups cherries
1.5 cups vodka
1.5 cups brandy
1.5 cups simple syrup
Remove the stems. Using a paring knife, slice each cherry from top to bottom to expose the pits. Put cherries in a glass container with a tight fitting lid. Add the vodka and brandy, stir slightly, and seal. Place in a cool, dry spot away from the sunlight. Let sit for two weeks, swirling the container every other day. Add the simple syrup, stir well, and reseal. Let sit for two more weeks, following the same swirling schedule. Filter the liqueur through a fine-mesh strainer in a bowl. Strain through double layer of cheesecloth into a pitcher, then strain again. Let sit for one more week before partaking.
