MA GIRLS’ PINT OUT @ STODDARD’S FINE FOOD AND ALE

The Bay State branch of Girls into Grolsch, Angels of Ale, Ladies of Lager is celebrating two years tonight at Stoddard’s and, as is their style, will be pulling out all the stops hops. Local drafts--like Notch Brewing’s Polotmavy, High & Mighty’s Pas de Dieux, and Pretty Things’s Jack D’Or--will be representing, as will tallboys of ‘Gansett Cream Ale and bottles Bantam Cider‘s Wunderkind. For the hopheads there’s also a ‘lil old beer on draft: Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA, a mega-hopped IPA that comes in between 15-20 percent ABV.

MA GPO has been supporting local breweries, educating beer enthusiasts, and simply, making beer events hella fun since they entered the scene two years ago, so it’s only right we give them the same treatment for their birthday. Boys are allowed too, so no excuses.

READ LOCAL, DRINK LOCAL @ PORTER SQUARE BOOKS

Books and beer are a fine way to ease in to the weekend and this Friday, acclaimed beer writer and owner of a spectacularly cute dogJoshua M. Bernstein will be joining Pretty Things and Porter Square Books for a beer-book blowout, Read Local, Drink Local. PT will be pouring samples; Bernstein will be signing copies of his book Brewed Awakening, a thorough and fascinating look at the craft brewing movement; you will be holding a beer in one hand and a book in the other, trying to pat yourself on the back for starting your weekend here.
