FOTOBOM: #OCCUPYBOSTON “NO WAR ON IRAN” MARCH AND RALLY

feat

This past Saturday, hundreds of people congregated at Park Street station to rally for Occupy Boston‘s latest protest, which was part of a global movement to voice the 99%’s disapproval of the U.S.’ and other western countries’ pending war with Iran.  According to a coordinator of the march,

“It was an emergency rally with only a week’s notice to get everyone together.”

Considering the tight deadline, the coordinator was very happy with the amount of participants.  From 1pm to 4pm, persistent protesters marched the streets of Boston, hoisting peace signs, banners and flags while chanting slogans and shouting optimistic demands. The Occupiers marched from Park Street station to Copley Square.  On the way, they took a detour to 20 Park Plaza and gave the Israeli Consulate a piece of their minds. Several speeches detailing the movement’s distaste for blood, lies and oil were shot out of enraged megaphones and PA speakers towards the Consulate’s office windows. After the unofficial meeting with the Consulate ended, the protesters made their way to Copley Square where groups such as Veterans for Peace made their voices heard to protesters alongside the general public.

*SIDE NOTE* 99.5% of the 99%ers who attended the march were serious and fueled by the noble call for a peaceful tomorrow.  The other .5% of the 99%ers who were there … not so much.  While hopping through the crowed and shooting the scene, I couldn’t help but chuckle at a group of teenage punks’ deafening cries for, “MORE BEER!!!!”  Beyond that, the bloodshot Cobain-olytes also shouted inspiring and captivating statements like, “If America drank more beer, they would be too drunk to go to war!!!!” OK.  Are the kids Simple? Yes. Dumb? Sure.

Counter-productive to a serious and legit movement that is constantly being bombarded for acting as the voice of the uneducated, drug addicted, slacker masses?

YOU KNOW IT!!!  BUT HEY! At least they picked up signs and marched on Saturday.

That being said…
