MASSUniting, in conjunction with Chelsea Collaborative, staged a protest to bring awareness to the unfair business practices of David Peach. Peach owns Peaches and Cream, a bakery with locations in East Boston and Chelsea.
Neighbors and community organizers descended on the Chelsea bakery to present Peach with the prestigious “Worst Employer Award,” something he’ll surly neglect to put on his résumé. The protest charged Peach with paying below minimum wage, using illegal child labor, stealing wages and even threatening employees.
The Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office is currently investigating the claims and has estimated that Peach owes his employees over $80,000. Organizers promised to continue to protest until their demands are met.
