Red Dawn, screening this weekend over at the Coolidge, is the single craziest piece of Cold War cinema to come out of the ‘80s, and considering that we’re talking about a decade that got off on political abstractions punching each other in the face, that’s saying quite a bit. Thanks to rampant pussification, the Soviet Union finally invades, literally para-trooping into every small town in America, shooting up schoolyards and torchin churches. All seems lost, when one group of brave (read: conservative) high school teens remember their second amendment and earn back their freedom, one dead commie at a time. This. Movie. Rules.
