Hank Moody has always been a magnet for lady parts and disaster, and in this season finds him knee deep in both. Between a ruined relationship with his imbalanced fiancée and his pubescent daughter’s disdain towards him, he’s also facing sexual charges in Cali for accusations with a minor. This is not an ideal situation to be in.
However, this doesn’t deter him—or the producers—from mixing in bundles of gratuitous sex for our badgered, boinking protagonist.
He bangs his lawyer, women in bars, even a mother/daughter combo. Hank faces so much erratic drama that he’s like Ben Stiller in a softcore remake of “Meet the Parents.”
The writers include festive boobies in an attempt to help this boner boat stay afloat, but it might be time to bail. Once again, they’ve revived a 90s grunge aesthetic in their music and filming. It’s their go-to theme, but by this round, it’s starting to come off forced and dated.
