DIG THIS: BOSTON UNDERGROUND FILM FEST @ BRATTLE THEATRE

underground film

buffy the mainstream slayer

This celebration of bizarre, grotesque, and overlooked cinema begins on something of an odd note. The film adaption of Cracked editor Jason Pargin’s (aka David Wong) John Dies at the End could be the least underground movie of the festival, with big names like Paul Giamatti, and vetted horror director Don Coscarelli attached to it. ‘Course, it also has demonic heroin, flesh-crafting, and layers upon layers of hyper-pomo-meta-framing. So, when we say it’s the “least underground,” what we really mean is “death to Videodrome, long live the new flesh.”
