kings of leer
There was a time when action stars weren’t well-sculpted Ken dolls of death. When amoral anti-heroes slouched through films, subsisting solely on the sweat they could soak up in their cheap suits. That time was … the late ’60s and early ’70s. Seriously, people got away with this shit. This weekend-long celebration of the “traditional” (read: murderous) macho man kicks off with a double feature of Michael Caine as the titular British gangster in Get Carter, and Lee Marvin out for revenge against the dean from Animal House in Point Blank.
