In the face of countless riffs on bucket hats, Tamagotchis, and Surge, some of the quiet brilliance of the ’90s has been lost. The remedy? Tonight’s double feature of My Own Private Idaho and Starship Troopers as part of the Brattle‘s “Story of Film” series. In the former, Gus Van Sant retools Henry IV with River Phoenix and Keanu “Keanu?” Reeves as street hustlers. In the latter, is satirized with an action-packed adaptation of a Robert Heinlein novel that was more or less chill with fascism. Okay, the ’90s, you’ve got us here. But those hats still look ridiculous.
