THE MAN WITH THE IRON FISTS | DVD & BLU-RAY | 2.12.13
No one has ever doubted that members of the Wu-Tang Clan—particularly RZA—have a deep and abiding love for Asian action movies.
But that might not be a good enough qualification to make one. And then try to act in it.
Don’t get me wrong, the action scenes are fun (and almost anything can be overlooked for a good kung-fu action scene), especially if you like the “Kill Bill” aesthetic of hyper-stylized recreations of poorly done B-movie workarounds combined with blood-spray anime, but in between you’re left with … the rest of the movie.
ATLAS SHRUGGED II: THE STRIKE | DVD & BLU-RAY | 2.19.13
It’s bad enough that tea-baggers insist Ayn Rand is worth listening to for more than comic value, but must we really swallow three films of Atlas Shrugged because Paul Ryan’s disciples finally found a book about “ideas” that they “get,” thus making them feel “intelligent?”
Unfortunately, yes. And the movie is as good as you’d imagine “job creator” rhetoric posing as art would be. Like Rand’s novel, it suffers from taking itself seriously, confusing many, many words with a plot, and espousing wrong ideas (watching propaganda is bad enough when it’s for the right side).
Forget the 47 percent: 100 percent of you should avoid this one.

I used to work in a DVD shop in NJ and RZA came in once and dropped $200 on Kung-Fu movies. You would think with his love for the genre he could make a decent film. Such a shame this movie was awful.
Oh well, I suppose RZA can comfort himself with his piles of cash?
