EXPLODING IN SOUND: LOCAL ACTS TO PLAY “THANK YOU FOR BEING A FRIEND” SHOWS

You know that reoccurring dream you have where all your favorite local bands play on the same bill and all your friends are there in the audience and everyone is happy and there’s free pizza? Well, it’s finally coming true.

One of our favorite local record labels, Exploding In Sound, wants to say thanks with some special shows this summer. On August 20th, 21st, and 24th, dozens of the label’s bands and affiliates will play in New York City, but Boston has its own weekend of fun. On August 22nd at 8PM, Krill, Big Ups, Stove, Palehound, and a band listed as “Unholy Strength” will play The Sinclair. On August 23rd at 1PM, Vundabar, Washer, Zula, Swings, Great Deceivers, and Lady Bones will play at O’Brien’s Pub where, if you get there early, you can nab some free pizza. Finally, on the evening of August 23rd, Pile, Kal Marks, Gnarwhal, Leapling, and Bunny’s A Swine will play Great Scott to close out their thank you weekend.

Exploding in Sound took to the event page to write a more formal note of appreciation: “Thank you for being a friend, travel down the road and back again, your heart is true, you’re a pal and a confidant.” To which we say, “No, really, thank you.”
