FOTOBOMB: Boston ComicCon Preview

Written by DIG STAFF Posted August 11, 2016 Filed Under: Uncategorized

This is Boston ComicCon’s 9th year, and my how it’s grown: This year will feature over 800 vendors/artists on display and 40-45,000 people are expected to attend.  While still a notch below the largest industry event (San Diego, New York, Orlando, etc), Boston has quickly risen to one of the 15 or so largest comic/pop-culture events in North America.  That rapid growth has forced a few changes at this year’s event at the Seaport, including moving the food court off the exhibit hall into an area upstairs, and a fully separate “Cos Space” for costumed merriment.  The consensus among vendors is that this year will be totally dominated by Harley Quinn, but we are thinking it’s finally Wonder Woman’s year!  Below are a few behind the scene shots to give you an idea of the size and scope of this mega-geek-feast!!

A sample of work by artist Jamie Tyndall, an industry vet who works with Fox Studios (think Deadpool & X-men Apocalypse art) and so many different pubs that we grew numb listening to him rattle them off.

Artist Jill Thompson seems to lend credence to our “Year of Wonder Woman” theory.

No these three aren’t dressed up as clueless members of the mainstream media.

That’s who they really are.

We felt like it was Christmas morning in nerd world…so hard not to run around and open everything!

The government should store the Ark of the Covenant here.  Indiana Jones would get lost in this place.
