LETTER ON THE NEED TO VOTE FOR PROGRESSIVE CANDIDATES

To the Editors of DigBoston,

Marching and voting go together. Since Donald Trump became President, we’ve been in the streets to defend women, Muslims, immigrants, union workers, and transgender folks. Now it’s time to match those strong messages by voting for progressive candidates.

Juan Sanchez is running for Secretary of the Commonwealth to protect our voting system and ensure the inclusion of underprivileged and underrepresented groups. Sanchez also supports rank choice voting, so we can express our true preferences when there are more than two candidates in a race.

Jamie Guerin is running for State Treasurer to end the influence of Wall Street in local politics. She advocates creating a state bank to invest our saving in local development projects.

Jed Stamas is running for State Auditor to be a watchdog for the people’s money and ensure that tax revenues are used ethically and efficiently.

As nominees of the Green-Rainbow Party, all three of these candidates refuse to take campaign contributions from corporate PACs and lobbyists. On November 6th, voters will have the opportunity to shake off the power of money over our electoral system by supporting these grassroots candidates.
