You aren’t above laying down tracks in your basement. Hell, you’re not above performing in basements. But if you’re looking for an alternative for rehearsal, recording, and exhibition space, a new online database, SpaceFinder Mass, aims to make the search easier. And the venue match up is not limited to musicians — it aims to help artists in any sector find the right set up.
Launched by Fractured Atlas “because both artists and venues spend considerable resources trying to find one another,” the free-to-use database makes searching easy by allowing you to narrow your search for your specific needs, such as what you need the space for, how much your looking to spend, and what specific dates you need the space.
Currently only 55 venues have registered their space — from Green Street Studios in to Jam Spot in Somerville — but give them a minute, they only launched today. (The New York City site boast nearly 2,000 spaces.)
So take a look and let the roaches resume their control under your floorboards.
