NEW MUSIC SHOWCASE ‘STRAINGE SESSIONS’ KICKS OFF 3/25 @ BIJOU

Attention Boston musicians: here’s your chance to perform for record company execs (they still exist!), and it won’t even cost you a bus ticket to New York.

On March 25, a new bi-weekly musical showcase called Strainge Sessions debuts at Bijou, with the mission of “bringing forth the most talented musicians of Boston and placing them in a professional atmosphere, while giving them the opportunity for exposure and the chance to get signed by industry leaders,” according to a press release.

The idea — courtesy of co-founders Elliot Grainge and Alexander Irinarchos — was born out of a familiar refrain: so much talent in Boston and not enough platforms to showcase them, let alone put them in front of music industry leaders.

The solution? An event that brings the industry to Stuart St. twice a week. Artists who’s submissions (see form below) are accepted will earn the chance (along with three other selected artists or bands) to perform for a group of “peers, fans, and industry leaders.” In addition, they’ve teamed with Harvest Records (Matt & Kim, Banks) as their official partner, which means all performances will be filmed and sent off to Harvest HQ, where a guy with his feet up on a very expensive desk will presumably watch it while chomping absentmindedly on a big cigar.

That’s just how I imagine it, anyway.

You can start sending your submissions in now using the official form.
